MATTHEW TOWNSEND FOUNDER
Ever Overland started with a roadtrip in 2021. My wife and I had recently sold our commercial building and her coffeehouse. For the first time in a long time we had margin. At the time, we were preparing to bike from San Francisco to San Louis Obispo and had started to talk about expanding our family. We were looking for a way to spend more time, as a family, outdoors.
I saw my first expedition vehicle outside Salt Lake City at Point of the Mountain in Draper, Utah where I took my first tandem paragliding flight. It was a home-made vehicle and I was immediately drawn to the design challenge. If executed correctly, everything was in it’s right place. After months of research, it became clear that the vehicle I wanted build wasn’t available and Ever Overland came into existence.
Ever Overland manufactures best in class expedition shells for professional upfitters and intrepid DIY builders. Our shells are a blank canvas. A big part of the design philosophy is ensuring that necessary decisions are made - like where to place the entry door - without limiting interior options. We spent years developing, testing, and fine tuning every aspect of the exterior design so you wouldn’t have to. The Ever Overland Expedition shells are the first time small scale manufacturers and upfitters have had access to a vacuum infused, moulded monocoque composite shell. There are other shell manufacturers and we’re thankful for those companies who have supported the DIY markets but it’s time for some new options in the expedition shell space.
AARON LATCHAW COO
My career began with 10 years in event photography in my early 20s traveling and coordinating operations, sales and account management for some of the largest event photographers in the world. I left the corporate world in 2019 to start a cafe near my neighborhood in Oakhurst, Race Street Coffee. Within 5 years we’ve become a staple in the Fort Worth Coffee scene operating at a high level with the processes and systems as a centerpiece to our consistency and success. It was through Race Street that I actually met Matthew (thanks for the introduction, Janice). With a somewhat unquenchable desire for business and new projects I found myself sitting at a table with him showing me designs for what would become the Ever Expedition Shell. “You can just do that?”, I thought?
I’m thrilled to join Ever and leverage my experience in business and operations to help more families enjoy the outdoors together.
